Would anyone be into recording themselves reading a letter that they wrote but never had the courage to send? Or maybe a letter that you never even intended to send? I’d really like to use it for a piece of music.
It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, even recording it on your phone would do.
If it’s something you’d like to do but want to remain anonymous, send me an anon message. You can change names and dates and locations.

Send me a message if you’re into it.

I was taking out the rubbish the other day and accidentally hit the metal dustbin in my bathroom. It had this amazing low pitched ‘gong’ sound that reverberated brilliantly off the bathroom tiles. It sounded like this:

I got fascinated by the idea of making a beautiful passage using something that is, for all intents and purposes, only good for containing things we no longer have any use for.
I set up an SM57 in my bathroom and recorded a few hits of the bin with a drumstick and imported the sound into my sampler. After A LOT of tuning I managed to turn the sound into a playable instrument, which sounds amazing in the upper registers.

Some more love from the US of A. Thanks, Don’t Need No Melody, I’ve never been called a professional anything before!

“According to Facebook, Summer Ghost was born just a few months ago, but you might not be a stranger to singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alexander Comana. The Cardiff native is a lifetime member of folk rock five-piece Among Brothers (they’re not actually related). Summer Ghost is his new solo side project.

Comana recruited trombonist Lewis Griffiths and backing vocalist Laura Jayne Atkinson for help on his second release, Seven Sisters (the first one was the more electronic The Atheist Youth). He handles the keys, electronics, guitar, and lead vocals.

The result is a really nice little piece of folktronica, one that succeeds at telling a story through instrumentals, with or without the lyrics. It’s no surprise that Comana is so successful at spinning musical folklore, though; he’s a professional.”

A lovely write up of my tracks on Soundcloud by London-based music blog, Hopper. Thanks!

“As it stands, these guys have about 25 likes on their facebook and about 100 plays on each of their two songs on soundcloud, but this is all about to change.Summer ghost have a sound that is intimate, yet uniquely epic. The two tracks that are available are impressively polished and leave us desperate for more. There is no doubt thatthis is a project that is about to go off right before our eyes.”
